Where is Mr. Me?

Help us find Mr. Me.
I'm somewhere I don't know where I am

We interrupt your regularly scheduled post to bring you the following breaking news.

We have recently been told that my good buddy, Mr. Me, has come up missing. Please help me to find him. He is about six foot, give or take a few inches. He is very skinny and kind of sickly looking. He was last seen on 10/23/04 campaigning or something like that. Click here to view his last known whereabouts.

We are hoping that he is okay and did not disappear in some horrible campaign accident. If you have seen Mr. Me, please tell him to come back. There will not be any reward for any information contributing to the recovery of said missing individual. We are hoping you will help us out of the kindliness of your heart.

If you would like to help out in the search, please post any information about his whereabouts by clicking the “Comments” button after this post or on Mr. Me’s post for Saturday, October 23, 2004.

That is all. Stay tuned for additional updates.

Monday

Well, it’s Monday again and I am back to work. I don’t particularly hate Mondays. It’s a fresh start and I am a sick morning person, and Monday is like the morning time of the week. I am very tired though and coffee is my only friend right now. This week should not be too bad. My wife surprised me with a trip to long beach, Wednesday and Thursday. We will be flying there on Wednesday Morning. It is only a few days, wish it was longer, but it is still a trip. I love to fly. I could get on a plane and fly just for the fun of flying. The nostalgia of flying has never worn off for me. I am like a little kid and still enjoy every minute of it.

Christmas was still a success this year, even with the unfortunate events of the week before. Our family pulled together and it was a great holiday. My wife spoiled me, as always, and my attempts to spoil her were feeble in comparison. Oh well, it’s not how much you give or that you give anything at all. It’s the spending time together and loving each other that’s the important part. Love your family and remember them on Christmas. Love is not an expression of wealth or possessions; it’s an expression of time and thoughtfulness. You don’t need to spend a lot of money or any money. You just need to let people know you love them and care about them. It’s hard in the current state of our world to remember this, but our number one focus should be on the greatest gift to mankind. This gift is unconditional love.

Hope you had a happy holiday and remember to hug your loved ones.

Pa

Sorry for not posting anything these last few days. I know you have been waiting for more holiday cheer, but we have been low on that this year. My grandfather, Gordon Gilbert Brundle Sr., passed away this past weekend. We have been morning his loss this week and had the funeral yesterday. It was a very nice procession.

I will miss you pa. You were the hardest working man I have ever known. We all said you would work until the day you died and you did just that. My entire work ethic is taken from watching you. I will try and live my life more to the ideals that you taught us all: be honest and fair with everyone, enjoy what you do and treat everyone with respect.

We love you grandpa. I hope you are having fun building extensions on your house in heaven.

12 days until Christmas

Did I mention I love this time of year? It’s like for one month, or around that amount of time, people are happy and festive. They typically stop being mean and for a short time celebrate this peaceful time of year. It’s the only time of year you can hit a guy in the nuts and he will look up, while doubled over in pain, and with a festive look in his eye exclaim, “Merry Christmas, asshole!” OK, so that is an over exaggeration, but it is close to this example. Holiday shopping has not been too bad this year. I have been able to find parking with little to no parking lot brawling. I have got some good deals and will spoil my wife this year. It’s great. The evil winter gods have also looked down on me in this time of cheer. NO SNOW! Yep, not happening and hopefully, knocking on all available wood, it will not until at least Christmas day. This is the one day that snow is exempt from my typically ranting and all around hatefulness.

Anyway, grab a cup of wassail and get your candy-cane ass out and do some caroling. It’s Christmas time.

Christmas Update

I am approximately 95% finished with Christmas shopping. I can’t wait for Christmas. This is my favorite holiday. I love the atmosphere and holiday cheer. Yeah, there are some holiday negatives, but for the most part all is good with the world around Christmas. I can even tolerate snow, for the most part. Yep, it is the most wonderful time of the year, as was accurately captured in song. We sang Christmas carols last night while traveling home from a Christmas party. I love Christmas. I am hopping that as many of my family as is possible will be in town for Christmas. I know a lot of them already came for Thanksgiving and will not be able to make it, but holidays are a lot better when spent with family.

If you are wondering what to get me for Christmas, don’t be afraid to be a last minute shopper. Return of the King (extended version) comes out on 12/14/04 and The Simpsons (season 5) comes out on 12/21/04. This gives you plenty of time to buy and wrap these great gifts. Hint, hint. I am easy to please, so don’t feel pressured to get these for me. I would be happy with just spending time with my family and don’t really care if you get me anything or not.

15 days to Christmas!!!

I LOVE THE WINTER!!!

Yippeeee!!! Winter is finally here. I am so happy I can barely stand up.

SLAP, SLAP, SLAP!!! Thanks, I needed that. I HATE WINTER! It is so cold that I have to fight polar bears for my own blankets. It is so cold that spiders were ice skating in my shower this morning. It is so cold it makes the Chief’s defense look hot. It is so cold that I can’t move my fingers enough to post something on my BLOG. Yep, it is the worst season of all and a slow spiraling depression that won’t end until after January rolls over and dies. Spring please come sooner rather than later.

Anyway, time to catch you up on things. Thanksgiving was a great success. I ate and ate and then ate again. I love a holiday were gluttony is encouraged. Two thanks giving dinners in the space of a few hours. I am such a pig. Every member of my immediate and extended family was in state for this joyous occasion. It was awesome to see everyone again. We took a great family photo, thanks to the fantastic skills of Mr. Me, and everyone, but a few missing family members, were captured on film. We also got to see our long lost, but recently found, fantastic friend, Baren. We got a great photo, again thanks to Mr. Me, of all the old crew. I almost forgot Black Friday. It was another great shopping year and we survived the most hectic shopping day of the year. We got some great deals and showed off our mad shopping skills. It was great, except for the freaking cold. Can’t complain too much, because this year was mild compared to last year.

The one good thing about the weather getting cold, which is until stupid, black hole, evil and worst month ever, January, gets here, is that we have the holidays. I cannot wait until Christmas. I love the holidays and the gift giving.

Well, I got to go. The penguins are making popsicles out of my raspberry ice tea again. See you soon snow hippies!

I Am Not President

Well, it looks like I am not the next president. Turns out I really was part of the mushroom scandal. It didn’t take people too long to figure out who took the pictures. Oh and the video of me running down the street in my underwear screaming “Who stole my Froot Loops!” didn’t help either. Oh well. As I learned from the ever insightful South Park, it doesn’t matter who you vote for, you’re going to get a turd sandwich or a giant douche anyway. I guess I should start preparing my self for war. I am still well below the age to not get drafted and we are going to need more soldiers eventually. Bush is just stupid enough to reinstate the draft and take us all down with him. I would gladly serve and fight for my country, but fight in a meaningless war is another thing. I’m no patriot, but I love this country and would do whatever it takes to defend it, but only from a clear enemy and for good cause.

Enough with the America rant. What have I been up too? Nothing really, we are just continuing the never ending search for a house. We either find the house we like, but it’s the wrong location. We find the right location, but then the house is all wrong. We are about to give our real estate agent a heart attack, but hey that’s what they get paid for. It will all come together, I hope. Other than that, I’m just staying alive and working. Arrrrgggg….work!!! It is the busiest time of the year for me. Open Enrollment! I loathe this word. Every question under the sun people could ever ask about their benefits and how to change them. Add on the fact that no one ever wants to do anything for themselves and you have a rough picture of the horror that is my job. The good thing is that it only lasts three weeks. The bad thing is I work lots of hours and am very busy.

On a lighter note, I watched the new Star Wars trailer on Friday. Man it was awesome. I got goose-bumps just watching it. “Lord Vader” “Yes, My Master” “Rise…..” This is going to be my new favorite line from all the movies. My wife, much to my personal protest, bought me Star Wars Battlefront. I didn’t want her to get it for me, because I new how much time I would waste playing it. She is an awesome wife though, and bought it for me anyway. I had lots of fun wasting away a Saturday systematically destroying the rebellion with an army of imperial troops.

Well that is about all I can remember from the last few weeks. I will see you hippies later.

Mushroom Scandal Exposed!

Mushrooms!!! Scandal!!!
Token!!!Motley Crew!!!

The pictures speak for themselves. Obviously my running mates are under the influence of a strong Mushroom based drug (as diagnosed by an outside doctor). How else would you explain the above actions? (bottom left)You can even see Baren consuming said drug. No, this is not a party horn, even though it appears to be one. (top left)Mr. Me is seen in relations with another man. He obviously would only do this under the influence of the above-mentioned drug, unless there is more that we don't know about this candidate. (top right)He also appears in a very strong state of paranoia. This is a common side effect of said drug (as diagnosed by an outside doctor). (bottom right)Motley Crew!?! This one is self-explanatory.

The above pictures are all clear evidence of participation in the Mushroom Scandal by my opponents. Would you trust allegations that come from people whose minds have distinctly been warped from over exposure to elicit drugs.

More importantly, would you want them to be your president. His wife hates mushrooms and so does Dr. Worm.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

This just in! Sources close to the Dr. Worm campaign have confirmed that eye-witness pictures were taken of Baren and Mr. Me during the Mushroom Scandal. These pictures prove the involvement of both of the candidates in this scandal. They also exonerate our candidate of all wrong doing, because who is going to trust someone involved in this scandal. When questioned about the incident Baren replied, “I don't remember anything about it, believe it or not”. When questioned about not remembering and this being linked to effects of mushroom use, as confirmed by outside scientists, Baren stated, “just enough to make you forget” and “appaernty, I had enough to make me forget how to type, too”. Note the obvious error in “apparently”. APPARENTLY, the mushroom scandal was not just a thing of the past.

Stay tuned for the campaign breaking pictures…

I Love Halloween

Hey Hippies!!! Pumpkin HeadHey Hippies!!!

I finally found a pic of last years Halloween costume. This is my Pumpkin head costume. The head is a real carved pumpkin and the hands are made from real vines. I walked through the mall wearing this and scared the crap out of several children and people. Mr. Me can bare witness of this event. It won me the scariest costume award at my work. My own dog was afraid of me and tried to bite me several times. It is not the world’s best pic and doesn’t do much justice to the costume, but it is all I got.

Now you see my predicament. I have two years of good costumes (I will post the one from two years ago as soon as I can find a pic) but have absolutely no ideas for this year. As I mentioned before, I am pretty good at putting things together at the last minute, but want to make this year even better. Please support me in my effort and e-mail any ideas to the above address.

Thanks hippies.

Football Depression

I know its been a while and you probably want to know what I have been doing lately. Too bad! First you get to hear me rant about football. Ha ha ha ha, cough...hack...sputter...HA!!!

I know not too many of you reading this are as big of football fans, or even like football for that mater, but it is something I really like, so there. You now get to hear me whine about football. In particular the Kansas City Chiefs, incase you have not figured out that they are my favorite team. WHAT THE YIFF!?! 1-5!?! That’s right 1 win and a pile of losses. Last year they get three losses and thirteen wins. What happened? That is something I have asked myself and several Chief hating Broncos fans, you know who you are, have also asked. I can give a few reasons.

The first thing is injuries. Yeah I know, they should not make or break a season. Good teams still prevail even if they are bit by the injury bug. Look at New England last year and Minnesota this year. It hurts a team pretty bad too lose a key piece of a juggernaut offense that plowed over teams last year. The Chiefs were decimated by wide receiver injuries. Just when they think they have a guy who can come in and fill in the gap for a fallen team mate, that player also ends up injured.

Next is winning on all sides of the ball: defense, offense and special teams. Last year the Chiefs were consistent on all sides of the ball, with the exception of defense. The defense still created lots of turnovers, even though my grandma could run 80 yards and score a touchdown on them. The defense is also starting a whole new scheme. With Cunningham returning the D-Fense has to start all over again. This usually takes time. They gave the offense a chance to get more points and score off of the turnovers. Offense, not much to say about this the numbers tell the storey. What happened to Dante Hall? Teams know how to play him now. He is no longer taking them by surprise. Has he lost his magic? I don’t think so. I think he will still amaze us. He is a good football player and that usually doesn’t just disappear.

Finally, and probably the most important piece, offensive line. Yeah they only lost one member, but that is huge. Tait was a key part of this O-Line. Yeah he should not make the difference, but when you have these guys playing for almost three years straight and then split them up. That is tough. Still this is one of the shining stars of the Chiefs team this year.

The Priest, Gonzo, and The Magic Man need some Vermeil magic. Dickey is the man who can keep them on track. The coach is the leader and the one who needs to keep their heads and hearts in the game. They can’t give up. I am not giving up. Not on a team that had 10 straight wins last season. True they are only 2 loses away from a long winter break, but I believe in this team and I know they will come through. Am I right about the above problems, probably? Are their other problems I didn’t address, maybe? I am not an expert, but this team is better than what their record says and we will see that change really soon.

Reaching Out

Errr….I have been busy lately. Work, stuff, some other stuff, more work and that thing I had to do. We are also intensely searching for a house. We made a bid on one a few days ago and we are hopping it goes well. I know there is a lot more stuff I should be catching you up on, but no. It’s time for something different for a change.

I seem to experience a very strange phenomenon when it comes to people I know or have known. It happens with friends, family and the occasional acquaintance. I don’t have a word for it or an explanation. It is kind of like a “small world huh” kind of thing, but more than that. So, here is what happens. When I have known someone or met someone that leaves an impact or impression on me, I tend to not forget them. This is a feet in and of its self as I tend to forget everything. They are usually people I have known for several years or months. The first thing that happens is the person leaves. This seems to happen a lot. After the person is gone I start over analyzing their departure. It seems to run through my head over and over again and almost driving me insane. I tend to say things like “I wonder what so and so is doing?” or “Whatever happened to so and so?” Sometimes I try and reach out, but usually it’s too late and I don’t have valid contact information anymore. Time passes on with me obsessing about what happened to the person and then it kind of tapers off. Now is when the said phenomenon usually kicks in. I go through a spell of intense questioning and obsessing about the whereabouts and happenings of this person. It is almost always shortly after this, that this bizarre phenomenon tends to happen. I will get a phone call out of the blue. I will run into the person in a store or mall. I will see them on the news or read about them in the paper. It is a bunch of other weird things like this. Eventually my over analyzing, extreme curiosity and anxiety about this person will lead to a chance encounter or contact. It is like there is some thread or unseen connection that I put on the person and eventually it leads to me getting back in touch with the person. I don’t know if it is me or some higher power trying to ease my trouble mind. We are all connected, I think, in more ways than we know and there is a system more complex than we could ever comprehend, that shapes our lives.

One such resent example of this happened with my friend Baren (He probably does not want me to disclose his real name at this time). We parted on bad terms and he left to join the military. Several attempts to contact him and nothing came of it. I wonder and wonder what happened to him and then, BAM, the phenomenon. I finally get back in touch with him. I now await the physical contact, as he lives some distance from me, I am not sure when this will be. So now you know about this strange phenomenon that happens when I loose touch with people. This is also something to think about when you are like “He never calls or e-mails. He probably isn’t even thinking about me.”

That is all hippies. Sorry for the wait.

What A Weekend

I survived another weekend. It’s pretty sad when you have to make it through the weekend rather than enjoy it. Oh well, I made it anyway. The weekend started out great. I got home on Friday and watched the last of the Star Wars movies. It was about this time that I started feeling terrible again. This was the onset of a Cold. I don’t know what it is about the Fall, but without fail I get sick. I know it’s not allergies this time. Nothing, of note and that I can remember, really happened on Friday.

Saturday was split. It started out horrible. I took my car in to get serviced at Larry H Miller Honda. He should change his slogan from “You know this guy” to “You’ll hate this guy”. Terrible service is all I have had since my friend stopped working there. It is pretty sad when you have to know someone that works there in order to get good service. I took my car in for an oil change an alignment. Pretty routine you would thing. Wrong! I got there at 8 AM when they opened. Checked my car in and let them know what I wanted. I was told it would be one and a half hours for my car to be done. I tried to call for someone to pick me up as I did not want to wait. I could not get a hold of anyone, so I decided to wait it out. I had a book, I just started Star Wars (the one that takes place after Episode VI), so I though I would be OK. I waited, and then waited some more. It’s finally 9:30 and I am told that everything was finished and they were putting the car back together. They also say that I had a bent strut and they needed to fix it. I waited some more. Half way through my book and close to 11:30 they finally tell me the car had been done, they just “forgot” to call me to the front to pay. Ridiculous! Yeah, I probably should have went and told them what was up and how long I waited, but I had no idea what was going on and if it was still being worked on. A little courtesy update wouldn’t have hurt. This is also not the first time I have been “hosed” by said dealership. I complained and luckily they gave me the tire balancing and rotation for free and a future oil change for free. Consumers beware! Think really hard before ever doing business with Larry H Miller. I have heard several similar, and often worse, complaints about his dealerships and business. I would only do business with him again if it was a last resort or I was getting a serious discount.

I salvaged what was left of the day and hurried and got my wife’s prescription and ran a few other errands before I met my family to go to our family reunion. The reunion was really fun and I had a great time. Normally I am not too fond of reunions, but there were fun games and good food. I was among fond company and you can’t ask for much more. Unfortunately, it wasn’t all happy news. I found out that my Grandma was hospitalized earlier that morning. Sadly I did not get many details and do not know her current state. I am hoping to visit her on Monday. I will let you know when I get more news.

Sunday, was spent in misery. My cold had reached its peak agony point. I didn’t feel like doing anything other than sit in front of the TV and computer. Cold medicine helped a little to ease the pain, but it was otherwise pretty terrible.

Football did very little to ease my troubled condition. The Chiefs lost their 3rd straight game and are now 0-3. Terrible! My fantasy football team (MWM) did no better and were utterly shellacked. I experienced my worst loss yet. I still have two players playing in the Monday night game, but unless a huge miracle happens I am going to lose. It has not been a good year in football. I need Dick Vermeil to wave his magic hand and make everything better. I know the Chiefs will get out of their slump. It is hard to have faith though. I will continue to try. As for my Fantasy Team, I need to make some better start/bench decisions and find some starters on the waiver wire that can get my team back to respectable status. It’s hard being a former champion, but I know the Chiefs and I will prevail. Talk to you later Hippies.

Star Wars Day Part III

It was my destiny. Finally, I have completed the Star Wars DVD trilogy. Return Of The Jedi was viewed earlier this evening. After seeing this movie, I am now complete and have an incredible appreciation for this new release.

The changes to ROTJ were also not as drastic as I though they would be. It had the same spectacular picture and sound qualities that appeared in the first movies. Jabba received another makeover, I wonder how much it costs for a Hutt to get a facial, and looked surprisingly better. This movie looked pretty much the same as before without anything taken away or added. I will watch this movie several times and see if I notice any changes. The dialog, no that I think about it, between the Emperor and Luke at the end of the movie seemed a little different. I will try and put my thumb on it and have a full report next time.

Overall, I also give this DVD movie a 5 star rating. This is going to be a classic DVD movie, in additional to a classic movie. I love this movie and the entire trilogy already, and I have only seen them one time each. I hope there a few Star Wars nerds out there that want to get together and watch all the movies together. I will even buy Pizza. Just e-mail me by clicking the link at the top of the page. Thanks hippies, and remember The Force Will Be With You, Always!

What Is Wrong With Me!?!

I didn’t watch Return Of The Jedi. What? Yep, didn’t watch it. I watched the season Premier of CSI and then my wife wanted to watch without a trace, I also watched it. Hey, don’t get mad, I messed up. It happens to the best of us. I don’t feel good about it. It just something I am going to have to live with and try to be better next time. We all make mistakes and this is something will be on my conscience for a long time. This administration takes full responsibility for this callous disregard for Star Wars fandom. We hope the rest of the community will accept our deepest apologies. That is all. Any further questions may be directed to the nerf herder in the corner. Thank you.

Today was a decent day. No real complains other than I have been feeling a bit of a cold/allergy, not really sure anymore. Work went by pretty quick and the commute was tolerable. When I got home my wife was gone, getting her hair done, and I had about an hour and a half to kill before CSI started, not enough time to watch Return Of The Jedi. I raided the cooler in hopes of something good to it, but came up empty handed. My sister in-law, seeing my plight, offered to make me dinner and all was balanced in the universe. I then hit the net, wanted to make some last minute changes to my Fantasy Football line up in preparation for the upcoming weekend games. Time ticked by, and finally my wife got home. Well I think it was my wife. Yep, it was my wife. Her hair was dyed a reddish brown. She looked beautiful. I loved the new look. Very sexxy! (X, because it’s extra baby!) I could not stop starring. I felt the way I did when I first met her. She looked fantastic. OK I will stop drooling now.

The season premier of CSI was awesome, not Star Wars awesome, but still pretty awesome. Four dead bodies in one show, you can’t really ask for much more than that. It was one of the better episodes I have seen. I will not give anything away for those that have not already seen it. Take my word for it, it was a great episode. Without a trace was OK. Never really liked the show a whole lot and it was way over the top in adult content. I had to cover my eyes a few times. When that ended it was not feasible to watch Return Of The Jedi. I went to bed.

I owe you a rain check and will have a review of Return Of The Jedi tomorrow, I promise. See you later Hippies!

Star Wars Day Part II

Wow, it just keeps getting better and better. This Star Wars day has become Star Wars week. I got home from work, which went by a lot faster than yesterday, and was all excited to watch Empire Strikes Back. My wife had other plans. She was watching A New Hope! I was so proud. She was voluntarily watching it. She said she had missed parts of it yesterday when I watched it and wanted to see it again. I almost cried. I will turn her into a Star Wars geek before I know it.

And now it is time for Episode V, which is my favorite. I like it because it is unique. You really get to see the Heroes struggle and overcome adversity in this one. Evil prevails and that does not always happen. It ends on a dark note and you wonder if the good guys can come back and win. You really get to see the characters grow and evolve in this movie. You also get to see Luke really struggle with the dark side and feel the burden that is placed on him. I love this movie.

No overwhelming changes are seen in the DVD version of this movie. There are of course the same colossal changes to the picture quality and special effects that were made to the first movie, but really the movie is left the same as the original. The only big change and it really is not that big, is the replacement of the emperor. They put in the face of the new emperor when Vader is speaking to the holograph. They also changed some of the dialogue but it is minor and still flows really well. I couldn’t really see much else that was changed, so not a whole lot to report. I was pretty observant of the movie, but will continue to watch it over and over and maybe something else will surface.

Overall, I give this movie 5 stars, that is two 5 Star movies so far. Of course I would give it more stars, if I could, to set it apart as my favorite, but that would just be me being bias. You really need to see this movie to understand. I am really feeling the Star Wars magic again and cannot describe how grateful I am that these are not on DVD.

See the movies Hippies! Until next time, may the force be with you.

Warning this post contains some spoilers about the changes in the new DVD. If you do not want to know about them until you watch the movie, then don’t read this.

Well it’s finally here. The long anticipated Star Wars Trilogy is now on DVD. Thanks to the bestest wife in the whole wide universe, I now have a copy. Today was a great Star Wars day. I had visions of Jawas and AT-ATs dancing in my head. Everyone (OK only us Star Wars geeks) were celebrating this fine day. We were coming up with clever nicknames for each other. (I.e. One of our coworkers is named Felicia and we called her Darth Feliciuos or Fe-3PO) It was great times. I could not wait to go home. The extra half hour I had to stay was torture. I felt like a kid having to stay after school before Christmas break.

When I finally got home I ripped open the DVD package with child like vigor. I basked in the glow of the shiny new DVD box. Each disc was individually wrapped, just how I like it. Mmmmmm….individually wrapped. I loaded up the 5 disc DVD player, and put my new back massager on my chair and got ready to watch. BUT, my wife really wanted me to go to dinner with them. They were going to Café Rio, one of my favorite restaurants and home of the greatest burrito ever. Ever! We ordered our food, after waiting only a few minutes. It wasn’t very busy, which was a big surprise. I sank my teeth into a sweet Pork Barbeqoa (I think this is how you spell it) Burrito and we were soon finished with our food. My wife and sister in-law wanted to go shopping after dinner and asked if I and my brother in-law wanted to join them. Hmmmm…lets see, Star Wars or shopping? I’ll take the shopping. Yeah right! I would rather be run over by a Bantha, than go shopping now.

We raced home like rebels fleeing an imperial raid. First on the docket was A New Hope. We took our seats; I had to take the couch instead of my planned chair as the vibration caused the picture to go funny. We cranked up the stereo system and waited for that beloved intro that is Star Wars. I almost cried. Immediately I was immersed in the galaxy far, far away. The picture and sound quality were stunning. It was almost better than watching it in the theatre. The special effects received a complete make over. The engine bursts, laser blasts and explosions were transformed into incredibly pleasing effects. The light saber blades were revamped and looked more like the newer ones from episodes one and two. The Gueedo vs. Hon Solo fight was also revitalized and looked a little more natural. I still hate that Gueedo has to fire first, SO unrealistic. Jabba the Hutt received a makeover (interesting mental picture) and looked more like the Hutts seen in Phantom Menace. He was still no where near the Jabba from Return Of The Jedi, but a little better for CG. The other thing I noticed is they put in some interesting visual changes in the Millennium Falcon fight seen. When the Tie Fighters are seen from Luke and Han’s perspective, when using the gun stations, subtle flashing red boxes appear around the ships as if being targeted by some new sophisticated equipment. It is hard to notice and at first I thought it was a flaw with the DVD, but this does not happen when the fighters are viewed from other perspectives or camera positions. Speaking of the MF, the jump to hyperspace is phenomenal. It took my breath away, on how much improved this effect was. That is about all I noticed. The rest of the movie was left alone. No scenes cut out or added. It was not as glaring of a change as I expected, except for the stunning changes in picture quality. The picture is indescribably clear. You really have to see it to know what I am talking about.

It really was worth the wait and I have a better understanding for why it took so long for them to put these out on DVD. Trust me, they do not disappoint. It is the same Star Wars we love, only better and put into a crisp new format that will last a very long time. I give the DVD 5 stars, and a few tears of joy. Lots of hours will be spent in front of the TV watching this movie. I feel like a droid after an oil bath.

Watch this movie Hippies, that’s an order. Comming soon: The Empire Strikes Back. If you are interested in a Super Geek night where we can view this and the rest of the movies, please e-mail me. The link is at the top of the page.

Freaking SNOW!!!

Yep, you heard me. SNOW!!! There was snow on the mountains today. Soon it will creep on down to the valley and make our lives miserable. That’s all it is there for. Stupid freaking snow!

Today was a good day. Work was not too bad. After work I watched TV with my wife and part of the Monday night football game. We then met my cousin and went to the Corn Maze (Crazy Corn Maze). It was a lot of fun. Instead of wandering aimlessly through a bunch of corn, they had posts set up throughout the maze and you had to find all ten posts. If you did, then you got to spin the prize wheel. We found all of the posts, despite the very muddy course as it had just rained, and all got to spin the prize wheel. My cousin’s son spun for us all and we all won free bowling. He one himself an ice-cream cone and we all left happy. I am getting to bed late, but it was well worth it. That’s about all hippies.

Tomorrow is the Dr. Worm declared Star Wars Day! - Star Wars episodes 4 through 6 come out on DVD tomorrow, incase you have not already heard. My wife graciously agreed to pick me up a copy as it is her day off. I will post a review as soon as I watch them. I hope you weren't planning on doing anything with me this week, because I will be in front of the TV. I am as happy as a Tuscan Raider in a sand storm!

Ahhh...The Sweet Embrace Of The Weekend

This was a great weekend. Friday we went to dinner to celebrate my beautiful wife’s birthday. We went with a few friends, supposed to be several friends, but that is what happens on Friday nights. We were also supposed to go to a haunted house, The Haunted Forest, but they do not open until the 24th. Errrr…Oh well, what are you going to do? It was Denny’s with our friend Vicki, the one that performed the marriage of my best friend Mr. Me and my cousin, and her husband. It was fun to just sit back and relax and have a good meal with friends.

The next day it was up early, about 6:30 or so, and off to help my Mom and Dad with the Boy Scout Jamborall (man this is a hard word to spell). For those of you who don’t know, I grew up in a very Scouting family. I learned a lot of cool outdoor and camping stuff and got to build really wicked fires (more about my Scouting excursion at a later time). My parents were very happy I was able to come and help them, and my nephew was doubly excited to spend the day with me. One of the main entertainment points of a Jamborall is trading. There are about 22 districts and each one was given a different pin. You take your 22 pins, all the same, and go around and trade for all of the other pins. Once you have them all, they combine to form one giant pin. It was pretty fun and the pins looked really great.

After that it was time for my niece’s birthday party, remember September is like a super birthday explosion. We then took off to Trolley Square for dinner, this time just my wife and me. We were supposed to go to Rodizio Grill, an awesome Brazilian style restaurant that is like a traveling buffet. Alas, it was not meant to be. We waited almost an hour, after being told it would only be a 20 to 25 minute wait, and each time we checked back it was another 15 minutes. NO FOOD FOR YOU, ONE DAY!!! I was very upset, and unfortunately ruined the rest of the night. I want to apologize to my wife for being such a freak. We went to The Old Spaghetti Factory instead. It was not bad and I have nothing against this restaurant, it is just that the excitement was building for Rodizio Grill. It was pretty late at night and my wife had to work, so we ate in a hurry and went home. My smart moves continued and I managed to make my wife even madder when we got home. Stupid restaurant not being open!

It was also a bad football week. The Chiefs lost to Carolina, I told you they would be good, and are now 0-2. There are still a lot of games left in the season. I have faith, they will prevail. My Fantasy team did not fair too much better. I was down by almost 40 points the whole game, but thanks to some great play by a few key players I pulled to within 21, still a pretty big margin, but it at least gives me some day light. The rest of the weekend was spent watching football and cleaning a bit. That is all Hippies!

Birthdays

It’s that time of year again. Birthdays. They are everywhere in September. My wife, my dad, my brother, sister, sister in-law, nieces, nephews, grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles. Wheeeeeew! Yep, they don’t call it Labor Day for nothing, as my wife would say. I practically have to take out a small loan. It is almost as bad as Christmas.

I bought my wife her present earlier today. I got her a gift certificate to a local spa. She had mentioned that she wanted to get her done and a facial. I though this would be perfect. She also mentioned she wanted to get our pictures taken, so I figured she could get the spa treatment and then we could go get pictures. I also wanted her to be able to relax (very much needed, especially when you have me as a husband). I picked up the certificate at Gardner Village, a local historic site/outdoor shopping center. It was all decorated for Halloween (I love Halloween. More to come soon.). I then headed to my parents house to drop off my Dad’s gift. I forgot to call him on his birthday. Man I am terrible. I got him an NFL Record book and a chunk of change. He was happy and I gave him extra, since I forgot to give him something on Father’s Day. I told you I was terrible. He really liked the gift and was not upset that I forgot.

I could not keep my wife’s present from her as I was too excited. I gave her the gift early and she loved it. It was perfect and just what she needed. Good, because she is very hard to shop for. Not because she is hard to please, but because she has a lot of stuff. I am very glad I made her happy and so was she. She is looking forward to using the certificate and I may have to buy her more in the future. Fine by me, as long as I know what to get her.

That is all Hippies. No birthday cake for you!!!

Chiefs Win The Super Bowl!

Yep, that’s right fans. The Chiefs are my pick for the Super Bowl. Yes, I am very biased toward the Chief’s as they are my favorite team, but they will win it all. They are in the perfect position. Very underestimated by the league, they will fly under the radar and pick up the championship. Don’t let a 0-1 start fool you people, they will prevail. They were neck and neck with Denver and that game could have gone either way.

Now that we have that settled, who will the Chiefs beet in the Super Bowl? That’s easy, the Minnesota Vikings. Yep, you heard here first. The Vikings, also overlooked by a lot of people, will prevail in the NFC.

Oh they don’t have good defenses you say. Well the end of the power defense is here. Again you heard it here first. With the re-enforcement of the no contact rule, the league will undergo a transformation. Teams with high powered offenses will turn the tables on defenses. This is what the NFL wants and fans have wanted for years. No one wants to see a low scoring game in which the team’s defenses shut each other out. NO, they want long ball, high scoring action. Just wait people, the change is happening and starts with this season. KC VS MS, in the Super Bowl.

NFC Championship Game: Vikings VS Carolina (Yep, I’m Crazy)

OK Day

Today was a day that I was able to survive, but with some effort. My allergies left me with final surge of agony. I woke up with a terrible sinus head ache. It felt like it was penetrating all portions of my head. I would breathe in and my head would throb. I went to my local drug dealer (not really just a friend who sits by me at work) and he hooked me up with a Tylenol sinus relief. That stuff is awesome. In no time it was back to work. As if getting back to work is any real relief either, but the pain was gone so I made it through. My fantasy football team was crushed and this added emotional pain to my physical pain. I was very busy yesterday searching for replacement players to get my team up to full speed again.

After work, was by far the best part of the day and balanced out the crappy beginning. I was greeted by my beautiful wife and I was very happy to see her. We then went to Olive Garden, because my sister in-law wanted to take my wife out for an early birthday present. My headache started to return, but was quickly snuffed by some headache medicine and the sweet aromas of the restaurant. We all got the never ending pasta bowl and enjoyed great food and each others company.

That is about all for today. Stay alert, stay alive hippies.

Allergy Recovery

Well today was nothing to brag about. It was the typical Monday. Work was work and busy because of said Monday. After work I was informed by my wife that the Internet was still not working. After trying all I know, not very much, I called my best friend and tech support guru, Mr. Me.

Almost an hour later and much headache, we finally got it going again. Reboot, try this, no try that and a few swear words. It was the story book troubleshooting experience. Once the net was back up, I got everything else working. Updated virus files, full system scan, disk clean up and the icing on the cake, defrag! Yeah it was a long night in cyber world. I got way in over my head, like I always do, trying to bite off more than I could chew. I want to apologize to my wife and thank her for putting up with my stubborn ass. She is really good to me and I am the biggest worry wart, stubborn idiot you could ever meet. Someday I will repay her for having to put up with me.

In other news, the Monday night football game was a bust. Not only did the team I picked, Carolina, lose, but my Fantasy football team will also face the same fate. Further insult to injury, literally, Steven Smith (my wide receiver extraordinaire) broke his leg during the game. It’s time for Injured Reserve and me digging for a new receiver. Oh well, I will not give up and will soon be back at top. 0 and 1 just like the Chiefs. We will both storm back and be force to reckon with.

See you later hippies!

Terrible!!!

Alas, the Chiefs lost to the dreaded Broncos. It was terrible! OK, not terrible, but a loss is a loss. The Chiefs looked great out of the gates and then stalled. Then at the beginning of the 2nd half the Broncos stalled and the Chiefs surged back. It was 27 to 24, Broncos, but the Chiefs came up short on a 3rd down attempt. The Broncos then marched down the field on the tired Chiefs defense and scored a touchdown. That sealed the deal at 34 to 24. Oh well, it is only the first game of the season and it was in Denver. The Chiefs defense did look very improved, but suffered a few injuries. This is not good in the long run. They will bounce back, though, and Priest Holmes will continue to dominate. He is a one man wrecking crew. My fantasy team is behind. I am down by 15 points with one game tonight in which I have a starting WR Steve Smith. My opponent also has one player, the Green Bay MLB. I hope Steve Smith has a career night.

Other than football, my weekend was below well. I have been suffering from terrible allergies, previously believed to be a cold. I visited my grandparents for Grandparents Day and they were very happy to see me. Of course I waited until the last minute to go see them and my wife was pretty upset at me. I had not visited them in a while, I am horrible at this kind of stuff, and I think they were glad to know I was alive. I paid a hefty price. My grandma’s neighborhood is filled with very pollen rich trees. I was dying. Thankfully my cousin, who I spent most of the day with on Sunday, took me to a local grocery store and I was able to get some allergy medicine. Cold medicine does not work very well on allergy symptoms. We also went to the No More Homeless pets super adoption and visited my sister in-law. She just turned 21 this weekend. That was a fun part of the weekend. We took our dog, Scout, with us and he had a lot of fun. I felt pretty much horrible the whole weekend.

Well time to go take some allergy medicine and sleep until the alarm clock shatters my sweet slumber. See you later hippies.

FOOTBALL!!!

Ahhh, today was a beautiful day. Not only did work pass by with flying colors, but NFL football started. It was the Indianapolis Colts VS the New England Patriots. It was a classic match-up. I went with the underdog pick, the Colts, for the win. The game was back and forth the whole time and kept me on the edge of my seat. In the end; however, it was the New England Patriots that prevailed. Payton Manning took a 12 yard sack forcing the Colts to kick a 48 yard field goal for the tie. Mike Vanderjagt shanked it right and the Pats won. I missed this pick, but I think my Fantasy team did really well. My opponent and I both had 4 players in this game, and I think my 4 were better. (Check out my team by clicking on the fantasy football link on the left.) I am very grateful that football started again. It will help me get through the fall and warm me up in the winter. Stupid fall and winter! I said in my last post, "I think I am already getting a cold", well it happened. Freaking cold! I hate it. Oh well, I will see you hippies later. I'm going to go blow my nose and then die.

Ahhh, The Joys Of Fall

I hate winter! I hate it! It is by far the worst "season" on this earth. Cold, wet, and miserable! That is how most winter days go. I won't even mention the worst four letter word ever created. That terrible "S" word! You know what one I am talking about. It's that horrible stuff that falls from the sky covering everything and making on big cold, wet mess. What does this rambling have to do with fall? Well fall gets a bad rap because of where it is in relation to summer and winter. Fall is like the usher of bad weather. It's the bringer of ill outside conditions. It is also the destroyer of summer. Fall isn't all together bad; it just gets in a difficult spot because of how hated winter is. Fall brings us one of my favorite holidays and it is also the time I met my beautiful wife. So you see; it is not all that bad. Yeah, but did I mention it obliterates summer and brings in the chill and awful winter. Fall brings us FOOTBALL. It also brings us colds. Crap, I can't believe I said that word. I probably jinxed myself. I can already feel myself coming down with something. Yep, this is the pain I feel people. Poor circulation, week immune system and severe winter depression; I am SO not ready for winter. And so I say, "DAMN you fall", but also "Thank you fall". I am going to go to bed now and hope this cold doesn't escalate. Stay warm and don't forget to wear your jacket. Hippies!

Acid Reflux Sucks!

I forgot to refill my prescription for Nexium and it ran out yesterday. Today, I felt like I was dying. It is amazing how much relief one little pill can provide. I hate reflux! No cure and I will have it for the rest of my life. Bad deal! Oh well, I shouldn't complain there are a lot worse things to have that don't have cures. Taking a pill is not so bad and I got the prescription refilled earlier in the evening. Nothing else to report on today. See you next time hippies.

Three Day Weekend

Hello again hippies. Oh I know what you are all saying. "You didn't post anything over the weekend!" Yeah, well maybe it was because I didn't feel like it. There, are you happy now.

I had a pretty good weekend. Happy Birthday to everyone I forgot to call this weekend. September is a big month for birthdays in my family. I am very bad at remembering birthdays and staying in touch with family and friends. This is one of my flaws I hope to remedy. Anyway, sorry for not staying in touch and compensation will be delivered via US post as soon as possible.

What did I do this weekend? Well I took it easy most of the time. Played some Madden Football on Playstation 2 and kicked my feet up. I also cleaned up a bit around the house, my wife was happy. My wife worked the whole weekend, much to my dismay, but we were still able to spend some quality time together. We also went up to visit my Grandma at her camp spot. (See POST "What A Busy Saturday") We played cards and had a nice steak dinner. My Iron level is steadily increasing. Maybe I will get an Iron meter to let you know how this is going. (See POST "Bloodmobile Experiences Shortage Of Workers") Anyway, it was good to hang out with my Grandparents. Earlier in the evening we went to my nephew's birthday party. It was OK, but we were there way too late. We ate dinner at about 9:30ish. We had some authentic Iraqi food; my sister-in-law's boyfriend is a US Citizen from Iraq. The food tasted great.

I don't really have a whole lot else to report on mostly because I can't really remember much more. I would just classify this weekend as a 7. Again, I apologize for my poor memory and hope you will forgive me if I forgot your birthday or haven't been keeping in better touch. This is something I am working hard on. I need to slow my life down and remember the things that mater the most.

Until next time, hippie!

Bloodmobile Experiences Shortage Of Workers

Hello fans! Yeah right. I know you guys aren’t reading this stuff. Oh if you’re so smart then why don’t you click on one of the little comment buttons below each post and say something? Are you too scared? Hippie!

Well today was another day. Work was brutal and I almost fell asleep at the end of the day. I have been really tired lately. I think I may have found out why. After work I was scheduled to donate blood, something I do on a frequent basis. I got to the blood donation center, read the paperwork and patiently waited for the pre-screening. The nurse did the tests: temperature, blood pressure and blood cell count. The blood test machine beeped, signaling the end of the test, and the nurse reviewed the results. I was then told I could not donate blood. I had too low of a red blood cell count. I needed to have a 38% and I only had a 35%. The nurse said that men usually have higher than 40% blood cell counts and she was a little shocked, but it is not unhealthy to be at 35%. This was not the first time this had happened. The last time I tried to donate, about 6 months ago, I was turned down for low blood cell count. The nurse asked if I had been tired, and I told her yes. She then gave me some paperwork on how to increase my blood cell count. Eat more iron and Vitamin C to help my body absorb the iron, because iron helps in the creation of blood cells. She said try again in 2 months, and if I get turned down again, talk to my doctor. I talked to my wife and we both determined we have not been eating as well as we should be. Now the plan is to eat more red meat, healthy red meat, not burgers, and more cereal high in iron. We also want to eat more low fat foods and fruits and vegetables. I am going to start on a multivitamin of some sort. Hopefully, this is all that is wrong with me.

TMBG Depression

Well my favorite band is a no show for the summer. I waited with much anticipation for They Might Be Giants to grace us with their presence, but it was for not. I even signed up for free notifications (Pollstar) in hopes they would update their tour schedule and include my town. Sadly this would never be, for I am not allowed, you see. So it is here that I must sit and wait, for a future date. A date that the sun will shine and the music gods will let flow the sweet sound of accordion and guitar. A date that lives in the depths of my heart, keeping my blood flowing and life going. For on that date, which is destiny, my ears will dance with the musical genius of John and John. Until then I must wait, yes I must wait. Until then, I will turn on my musical lighthouse to guide the lost travelers, safely, back to my soul.

The Return Of Mr. Me Part II

Today marked the end of Mr. Me's visit. I was very sad to see him and my cousin go. In case you did not know, Mr. Me is my best friend, almost like my little brother. I have never had a whole lot of friends and he is one of them that have stuck by me from the beginning. He is a wiz when it comes to computers and has provided me countless hours of tech support. We have a lot in common, we get along very well and we can laugh about things that aren't even funny to other people. It's mostly the little things I miss. Oh well, that is what life does to us. It rips us from our nice cozy shells and throws us out into the world naked and exposed. Oh yeah, sometimes it gives us ice cream too.

To celebrate their final night here we went out for ice cream. I ordered a "Brownie" sundae. That's right, a "Brownie sundae. Why the emphasis on "Brownie" you ask? Well it's because they tried to pass off chocolate cake as "Brownie". One of my favorite desserts of all time is "Brownie" covered in vanilla ice cream. Yep, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. But NOOOO, instead I get soggy chocolate cake that they tried to disguise as "Brownie". This is almost as bad as putting Mayo on my cheeseburger. If it isn’t "Brownie" don't call it "Brownie". So I did what any loving husband in this situation would do, I whined and ate most of my wife's ice cream.

Well I will see you hippies later. Have a safe and happy trip Mr. Me.

The Return Of Mr. Me

What a happy day. Best friend and his new wife, my cousin, came back to town. After not seeing them since their wedding it was good to see them again. We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory and enjoyed tasty Italian food. The best part was catching up on everything that had happened since we last saw each other. I especially liked the part where they described the horror of seeing their car, which we so graciously decorated, after their wedding. (Picture and Video Coming Soon. Click on Mr. Me's Emporium link in the favorites section for more details.) After dinner we went to Mr. Me's parent's house to look at their wedding photos. We then sat down for a nice family game of Guillatine and then Split. (I will post links to info on these games if I can find them.) We talked and played into the we ours of the night and then we went home. That is all. See you next time hippie.

What A Busy Saturday

Hello all, it's me again. Just wanted to give you a snap shot of what I did today. The day started with me preparing for my Fantasy Football draft (Check out my favorites for a look at my team, should be updated soon). After this, it was a trip to my Aunt's house to pick up some medication to take up to my Grandma, who was camping in Coalville. After picking up the meds I went to pick up my brother in-law (from about 13th east and 86th south to about 60th south and 60th west). We hopped back into the car and then zoomed up to Coalville stopping only to grab some grub and drinks at McDonalds. Coalville is located about 20 miles from Park City, if you didn't know. We arrived in Coalville to our very great full and relieved Grandmother. She then had us run her into town for some groceries (about 1 mile away from their camp ground). She bought her groceries and candy bars for us. We then took her back to her camper and went on our way.

It was only a quick stop at the house, we had to grab stuff for the Fantasy Football draft, and then it was off to Cedar Hills (just north of Provo) for the actual draft. One small hook up, we were locked out of the house. The locks on the doors had just been changed and we did not have the new key. CRAP! We had less than 45 minutes to get to the draft. We finally got into the house, thanks to some ingenuity by my brother in-law and some quick thinking. We grabbed the supplies for the draft and jetted down the road. Special thanks to Microsoft Streets (I guess M$ is good for something) for guiding us to a place I had only been one other time (last years draft). We made it safely, despite our unlawful speeds, and even had a few minutes to settle in. The draft went very well and I am pleased with my new team.

It was now time to go home. We are greeted, when we arrive at the our car, by several melted candy bars and watered down beverages. Oh well, just want to get home. Long day...(yawn)...gotta rest. CRAP! Freeway is closed for construction. *&)#^%!!! Detour!!! Well, we are right by my mom's house, so lets stop and say "hello". We are greeted with a warm welcome and pizza. That stopped the obsessive rumbling in my stomach. We then relaxed for a while and watched the Olympics. My dad gave me another Bicentennial Quarter, to add to my collection, and we discussed details of the draft. It was FINALLY time to go home.

We arrived home, OK, and played a little Madden 2005. It was not long after we had settled in, that my sister in-law promptly informed us that there was a high-speed chase that ended in our neighbors yard. A WHAT!?! We walked out side to flashing lights and a crowed of neighbors. Yep, some guy fought the law and the law won. There was his truck, on top of a squad car. OK, not on top, but backed well into the squad car. Broken glass, tons of cop cars and an ambulance crew; everything needed for a good episode of COPS. News crew pulls up, and the crowed starts to dissipate. Time to go inside and see what footage is shown on the news.

Man I am tired, and even more tired after telling this story. The lesson is, when you are sitting at home saying, "Hmmm...I wonder what my good friend is up to and why he never answers his cell phone or wants to hang out", you will understand what some of my weekends are like. Hey, I'm not making this stuff up. This is all factual and can be verified by any of the above named parties. I'm going to bed. If you don't believe me, then you're a hippie. Good Night!

Who Is This Guy And What's This Dr. Worm Thing?

Well, I’ll tell you who AND what! Dr. Worm is the name of a song by the most awesome band in the whole world, They Might Be Giants. I stole, with pride, this great name for my BLOG. I wanted Mr. Me, but my arch nemesis already had it and promptly called me a nickname stealing hippie. Oh well, Dr. Worm is better anyway.

Well that long bit of information above says who Dr. Worm is, but who am I? Well hippie read the below information, connect the dots, calculate where Pluto is in relation to Venus and you will have about as much information on who I am as I do.

1. I am not a hippie.
2. I am 24 years old.
3. I do not like Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip. Just ask any unfortunate fast food attendant that happened to slip some on my cheeseburger.
4. I am happily married. Sorry ladies.
5. I do not like watching Soccer.
6. I am a very good looking man, with lots of charm and sophistication.
7. OK, I am none of the things stated in #6.
8. I am very hard to get to know and that is part of the reason for this BLOG.

Sit back, relax and I will take you on a journey through my life: past, present and future. No peaking or using your mind reading abilities. If I don’t want you to know something, I have my reasons.

In The Beggining, There Was Blog

Wow, I never thought I would be doing this. Letting people have even a glimpse into the life that is me, is just somehow wrong. I feel dirty and the dirt is not coming off. Oh well, I have started this and I guess I better go through with it. I hope to dazzle everyone with my exciting, action packed, fast and dangerous life. I wish it were all of these things. I hope I can be somewhat entertaining; long enough to keep you reading and hopefully long enough to keep you coming...back for more. This will be especially entertaining for those of my family members who choose to visit this BLOG. Please help contribute to the success of this site. If you think it stinks, let me know. You can help make this a better place and fuel the discussion or something like that.

This is my procrastination disclaimer. I apologize in advance if this BLOG is not frequently updated. I have a hard enough time remembering to dress myself in the morning, let alone write in this BLOG. Does anyone else feel a breeze?

Anyway, please read about my life and hopefully learn something new in the process. Thanks.
